Creative Camp
A five-day retreat for artists to explore artmaking, build community, and connect with nature while camping in Grand Teton National Park
-
Artists, creatives, and makers of all kinds are invited to apply. You don't need to be a capital-A artist to join. If you sketch, knit, cook, write, or bring anything into existence, you're an artist and you're welcome here!
Expect to meet eight artists who specialize in a diversity of art forms. You'll share your unique perspective, learn new artmaking skills, and collaborate with your creative community.
-
Creative Camp runs from May 31, 11:00 AM, to June 4, 11:00 AM. (Participants may choose to stay longer after Creative Camp concludes to kayak, hike, or spend time in the park.)
A typical day includes a morning creative warmup, a short hike by beautiful Jackson Lake, one to two art workshops, free time to explore, and a campfire at sunset. Art workshops are chosen by participating artists and could range from plein air painting to pit firing to block printing to natural dyeing!

You'll camp at Colter Bay Campground, nestled in a lodgepole pine forest by the shore of Jackson Lake. The group campsite has potable water, flush toilets, food-storage lockers, and coin-operated showers. Nearby Colter Bay Village has a visitor center, restaurant, general store, gas station, and laundry services.
A suggested gear list will be sent to accepted artists, and you'll need to bring or rent your own camping gear. You do not need previous camping experience to apply.
The suggested price for Creative Camp is $880. Sliding scale scholarships, including full scholarships, are available. Art supplies, campground fees, park permits, and some group meals are included with your registration. Transportation is not included, but carpools may be possible.

Eight Fires Creative Camp is supported by a fiscal sponsorship from the Art Association of Jackson Hole and an Arts for All Grant from the Town of Jackson and Teton County, facilitated by Jackson Hole Public Art.
